What is Alginic Acid?
Alginic Acid is a product of brown seaweed. The material is composed of mannuronic acid and guluronic acid units in varying proportions. These proportions are based on the species of brown algae that was used during processing. While on its own, Alginic Acid is insoluble in cold water and only slightly soluble in hot water. It can be processed with sodium, potassium, ammonium, calcium or propylene glycol to achieve a water-soluble alginate.
